Chief
Kevin M. Donovan
Chief
Kevin Donovan graduated from North Quincy High School in 1963,
then served four (4) years in the United States Navy, including
a tour of duty in Vietnam. Chief Donovan joined the Rockland
Police Department in 1974, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant
in 1983, Lieutenant in 1984, and was appointed to his current
ranking, Chief of Police, in May of 1989. Since assuming his
position as Chief, Kevin has done his utmost to upgrade and
modernize the Rockland Police Department. He has reorganized
the Patrol Division and Detective Division while successfully
attaining funding to computerize the day-to-day operations
and report writing, and in general, the department has become
much more proactive while morale has improved.
Chief
Donovan has an Associates Degree in Business Management from
Newbury College, an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice
from Quincy College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal
Justice from the University of Massachusetts. In 1992, Kevin
graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National
Academy in Quantico, Virginia, becoming the only officer in
the history of the Rockland Police Department to attend this
program.

This
Academy is known as the most prestigious law enforcement training
program in the world. Kevin's classmates included police officials
from Italy, Spain, England, Japan, Thailand, and a host of
other international entities, as well as law enforcement executives
from throughout the United States.
Chief
Donovan has been cited by the International Narcotics Enforcement
Officers Association for the tremendous efforts he has made
in support of narcotic law enforcement. Kevin is also a past
president of the Plymouth County Chiefs of Police Association.
